Inline AI Inspection for Through-Hole Components & Post-Wave Solder
The Challenge
One Inline Platform for Different Boards and Recipes
The EMS manufacturer's Chennai facility's proposed scope covers automated inspection across pre-wave and post-wave processes.
The objective is a scalable inline platform capable of inspecting different PCB sizes and recipes while integrating with the production environment and providing traceable inspection decisions.

Inspection Scope
Through-Hole, Polarity, Bottom-Side, and Solder Checks
- Pre-wave: through-hole component presence and missing-component detection.
- Pre-wave: component polarity verification and multi-board recipe support.
- Post-wave: component verification and bottom-side PCB inspection.
- Post-wave: solder bridge and solder defect detection.
- PLC communication, production traceability and future MES/ERP readiness.

RoshAi Solution
One Common Architecture for Inline PCB Inspection
The proposed IQI Agent combines dual 12 MP industrial cameras, industrial optics and lighting, a precision motion platform and the CO-AI software backbone. One common architecture is designed to execute both through-hole component inspection and post-wave solder-defect inspection, supporting PCB sizes from 100 mm to 600 mm and defect resolution starting at 100 microns.

Validation / Status
First Production System Deployed at the Chennai Facility
- PROJECT STATUS: DEPLOYED
One IQI Agent has been deployed at the customer's Chennai manufacturing facility as the first production system. The broader scope covers a future expansion opportunity across 20 lines: 10 pre-wave and 10 post-wave, using a common architecture for real-time inspection and scalable recipe/model management.
Business Value
Standardizing Inspection Across the Production Line
- Reduces manual inspection effort while improving consistency.
- Combines pre-wave and post-wave inspection on a common platform architecture.
- Adds digital traceability, dashboards and centralized recipe/model management.
- Standardizes inspection capability for future multi-line rollout.

Scale Potential
From One Machine to a Multi-Line Architecture
The first deployed machine establishes the architecture for potential factory-wide expansion across 20 production lines using the same CO-AI platform, enabling centralized recipes, standardized AI and progressive rollout.
